Who pays
A work injury costs you nothing out of pocket
Under Colorado law, medical care for an accepted work injury is billed to your employer’s workers’ compensation carrier — not to you, not to your health plan. No copay, no deductible, no bill in the mail.
Work injury
Your employer’s carrier pays
Once the claim is reported, treatment, therapy, follow-up and any imaging we refer you out for are billed to the workers’ comp carrier. You pay nothing at the desk.
Employer services
Physicals and testing are employer-billed
DOT exams, pre-placement physicals, drug and alcohol testing and surveillance are invoiced to the employer’s account, not to you.
Federal employees
OWCP is billed directly
Federally insured workers, including USPS employees, are covered under FECA. We submit to OWCP through ECOMP on your behalf.
Don’t delay care because you’re unsure who pays. Walk in, tell the front desk you were hurt at work, and we will contact your employer for authorization while you are being seen.
Carrier directory
Insurers, administrators and networks we work with
A sample of the carriers, third-party administrators and managed care networks already on file with us. Don’t see yours? We almost certainly still bill them — contact the clinic and ask.
Insurance carriers Workers’ comp policies written in Colorado. 44 listed
Third-party administrators Claims handled on behalf of an employer or carrier. 17 listed
Networks & managed care Outcomes-based networks we participate in. 5 listed
Government & public entities Federal, state and municipal coverage pools. 4 listed
No match for that name. We contract with more carriers than we list here — send us the carrier name and we’ll confirm yours.
Carrier and administrator names are listed for identification only. Listing does not imply endorsement or affiliation beyond a billing relationship, and networks change — confirm current participation with the clinic or your adjuster.
Federal workers
OWCP-credentialed, including USPS employees
Injury Care Associates is credentialed with the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs and eligible to treat federally insured workers under FECA — postal carriers and clerks, federal agency staff, and other covered employees.
We bill OWCP directly through the ECOMP system. Bring your claim number if you have one; if the injury just happened, come in anyway and we will start the paperwork with you.

Common questions
Insurance, answered plainly
Will I get a bill for treating a work injury?
No. For an accepted workers’ compensation claim, we bill your employer’s carrier directly. There is no copay, no deductible and no balance billed to you. If a bill ever reaches you by mistake, call us before you pay it — it is almost always a claim-number mismatch we can fix.
What if my employer hasn’t reported the injury yet?
Come in anyway. We will treat you and contact your employer for authorization while you are here. Colorado law gives you the right to prompt care, and delaying treatment rarely helps the claim or the injury.
My carrier isn’t on your list. Can I still be seen?
Almost certainly yes. The directory is a sample, not a limit — we contract with all major workers’ comp insurers operating in Colorado, and we bill out-of-network carriers regularly. Contact the clinic with the carrier name and we will confirm.
What is Pinnacol SelectNet and why does it matter?
SelectNet is Pinnacol Assurance’s designated provider network. As a SelectNet facility, we are a pre-approved choice for Pinnacol-insured employees — which means faster authorization and fewer steps before treatment starts.
Do I need my health insurance card?
Not for a work injury. Bring photo ID, your employer’s name and your supervisor or HR contact. Bring an insurance card only for a visit that is not work-related and not employer-paid.
What if my claim is denied?
Care does not have to stop. Talk to our front desk — we can discuss your options while an appeal is in process and provide the documentation your attorney or adjuster needs.
Can I choose my own doctor for a work injury?
In Colorado, your employer or its carrier must give you a written list of designated providers to choose from, typically within a set window after the injury is reported. If Injury Care Associates is on that list, you can pick us. If you were never given a list, you may have the right to choose your own provider — ask us and we will walk you through it.
Who pays for physicals and drug testing?
Employer-required services — DOT and pre-placement physicals, drug and alcohol testing, surveillance exams — are billed to the employer under their account with us, not to the employee and not to health insurance.
Still not sure your carrier is covered?
One message settles it. Send us the carrier name or your claim number and we’ll confirm before you come in — or just walk in and we’ll sort it at the front desk.
