Drug and alcohol testing at your jobsite

A certified collector comes to you — after an accident, when a supervisor has reasonable suspicion, or on the day your random pool is drawn. Same chain of custody, same labs and MRO review as our clinics, without pulling anyone off site.

  • Certified collectors dispatched to you
  • Breath alcohol results before we leave
  • DOT and non-DOT

Scope of service

Every reason for test, collected on site

Some tests can’t wait for a drive to the clinic. Others are simply easier to run where the crew already is. Pick the situation to see what the visit covers.

Post-accident

Dispatched

Collected at the scene so the alcohol and drug windows are met and the employee stays supervised.

  • Breath alcohol test by a certified technician
  • Urine or oral fluid drug collection
  • Chain-of-custody documented at the site
  • Time of incident and collection recorded
  • Paired with an on-site injury assessment if needed

Reasonable suspicion

Dispatched

A supervisor has observed and documented signs. We collect before the employee drives anywhere.

  • Collection while the employee is still on site
  • Breath alcohol with confirmation test if positive
  • Supervisor observation form reviewed with you
  • Drug panel per your written policy
  • No employee transport required

Random pool

Scheduled

We run the selection and arrive unannounced on the day it’s drawn, so notice-to-test stays short.

  • Random selection managed under your account
  • DOT and non-DOT pools kept separate
  • Collector arrives the day of selection
  • Alcohol and drug percentages tracked to rule
  • Selection and completion records for audits

Pre-employment batch

Scheduled

For hiring classes and seasonal ramps. Clear a whole orientation group in one visit.

  • Rapid 4-, 5-, 9- or 10-panel urine screens
  • THC-free panels available
  • Same-day negatives for most candidates
  • Non-negatives sent to lab for confirmation
  • Bundles with on-site physical exams

DOT-regulated

Either

Collections under 49 CFR Part 40 for FMCSA, FTA, FRA, FAA and PHMSA employers.

  • DOT-qualified collectors and breath alcohol technicians
  • Federal CCF and HHS-certified laboratory
  • Medical Review Officer verification
  • Return-to-duty and follow-up testing
  • Clearinghouse reporting support

Panels, THC rules and alcohol thresholds follow the protocol on your employer account — see protocols & options. Collections can bundle with on-site physical exams in the same visit.

Why it comes to you

After an accident, the clock is running

Alcohol clears fast. Federal post-accident rules set hard windows, and most non-DOT policies borrow them. Sending a collector removes the drive, the wait and the gap in supervision.

2 hr
Alcohol, target

DOT post-accident alcohol tests should be done within two hours. Past that, the reason for delay must be documented.

8 hr
Alcohol, cutoff

After eight hours, a DOT post-accident alcohol test can no longer be performed.

32 hr
Drug test, cutoff

The post-accident drug collection has to happen within 32 hours of the accident.

0
Drives off site

No one has to transport the employee, and no supervisor leaves the job to sit in a waiting room.

DOT windows per 49 CFR Part 382. Non-DOT timing follows your written policy.

How it runs

From your call to a reviewed result

The same four steps whether it’s one employee after an incident or forty names from a random draw. Step through it below.

One call starts the clock

For an incident, call with the employee’s name and site address. For random or batch testing, we schedule the visit with you ahead of time.

Your team does
Call with the reason for test, time of incident and location.
ICA does
Confirms the panel from your protocol and dispatches a collector.

At your site, ready to collect

A certified collector arrives with sealed kits, the breath testing device and custody forms, ready to start as soon as they reach the employee.

Your team does
Keep the employee supervised and away from food, drink and the restroom.
ICA does
Collector, evidential breath device, kits and forms on site.

Same chain of custody as the clinic

Photo ID check, secured restroom, temperature check, and a sealed custody form signed by the donor. Breath alcohol is tested on the spot, with a confirmation test when required.

Your team does
Provide a private space and point the collector to the restroom.
ICA does
Collection, sealing and documentation, signed by donor and collector.

Reported only after review

Alcohol results are known before we leave. Drug specimens go to a certified lab; non-negatives are confirmed and reviewed by an MRO before anything is reported to you.

Your team does
Nothing. Results go to your designated contact.
ICA does
Lab confirmation, MRO review and secure delivery of results.

Setup

What it takes on your end

A restroom we can secure and a private spot for the breath alcohol test. If your site has neither, tell us when we set up your account and we’ll confirm how collections will run there.

We bring

  • A DOT-qualified collector and breath alcohol technician
  • Evidential breath testing device
  • Sealed collection kits and federal or non-DOT custody forms
  • Bluing agent and tape to secure a restroom
  • Rapid screen cups for non-DOT panels
  • Shipping to a certified laboratory

You provide

  • A restroom we can secure
  • A private spot for the breath test
  • The employee, supervised until we arrive
  • Reason for test and time of incident
  • Supervisor’s observation notes for reasonable suspicion
  • A point of contact on site

Choosing the setting

On site or in the clinic — same collection, same standard

The specimen goes to the same certified lab and the same Medical Review Officer either way. A non-negative screen is never reported as positive until it’s confirmed.

What changes is speed and disruption. For one new hire on a Tuesday, the clinic is usually the better call.

Common questions

Questions supervisors and safety managers ask

If someone was just hurt, skip the reading and call your nearest clinic. We’ll tell you whether to send them in or wait for a collector on site.

Collector dispatch

Denver metro

Have the employee’s name, the time of the incident and your site address ready.

How fast can a collector get to our site?

It depends on where you are and the time of day. When you call, we give you an arrival estimate. If it won’t meet your alcohol window, we’ll tell you to bring the employee to the nearest clinic instead.

Are on-site collections valid for DOT?

Yes. Our collectors and breath alcohol technicians are DOT-qualified, use the federal custody form, and send specimens to HHS-certified labs. The result is identical to a clinic collection.

What if our site has no restroom we can secure?

Usually the collector can secure an existing restroom by taping the tank and fixtures and adding bluing agent. If that isn’t possible at your site, tell us when we set up your account and we’ll confirm how collections will run there.

Should the employee go back to work while we wait?

After an accident or a reasonable-suspicion call, most policies keep the employee off safety-sensitive work until results are back. Your written policy decides; we can walk through it with you.

Can you test for alcohol only?

Yes. Breath alcohol can be run on its own or with a drug panel. The reason for test and your protocol determine which.

Do we need an on-site plan to use this?

No. You can request on-site testing without a plan. On-site plans add guaranteed availability and priority response, which matters most for random programs and sites that test often.
